How We Met
Ross and I (Crandall) met on Hinge, a dating app, in August 2020. I was living in Montgomery at the time, and Ross came down from Birmingham for our first date. Today we laugh about how he would “start sweating in Prattville,” getting nervous on his drive. The excitement would continue in the months to follow, as we continued to alternate weekends in one another’s cities. We got married a year to the day after the date that we met.
My dress is Alice by Rebecca Ingram. I have always been drawn to timeless pieces and could not have pictured myself in anything else.
Eating together privately before the reception, we were able to intentionally focus on each other and enjoy our first married moments. We enjoyed talking to each other, watching our guests arrive and trying our reception food. The taco bar was a special request for both of us, especially Ross. It was important to him that Mexican food was incorporated since it’s his favorite, having grown up working in his family’s Homewood restaurant, Taco Casa. The grits bar was a close second!
Our reception venue, the Shorter Mansion, is special to us as I volunteered there growing up. The historic home is renowned for several reasons, my favorite being its brief appearance in the movie Sweet Home Alabama. Separately, Ross and I also appreciated that during the wedding ceremony, we both got to incorporate each of our favorite worship songs, singing “Praise to the Lord the Almighty” as a congregation, and playing “In Christ Alone” during the prayer.
What We Are Doing Now
Ross works as a Loan Officer at Method Mortgage, and I work for Quinlan Partners, a research and intelligence firm. We have enjoyed settling into our home in West Homewood and look forward to many more years here.
